‘Now his son is here’ – Liberia president’s son playing for US at World Cup speaks

Timothy Weah, son of Liberian president George Weah has spoken about how it feels to be playing at a World Cup.

Despite being son to the president, Timothy plays for the United States Men’s National Team and is so far the sole goal scorer for the team after two games.

He scored the team’s goal against Wales in Match Day 1 but the lead was scrapped via a Gareth Bale last minute equalizer.

After the game, he had dinner with his parents – President Weah and First Lady Clar.

Asked about how it felt sharing the moment with his family, he said: “It is an amazing feeling.”

He gushed about how proud his parents were of his feat especially for his father who is a one-time World Best player but who failed to play at the Word Cup.

“…when he was playing, he couldn’t get the opportunity to take his country to the World Cup and now his son is here, doing the best I can so I know he is proud, my dad and mom were going crazy in the stadium.

“I know they are proud of me and I just want to make them proud out here,” he stressed.
