NPP suspends First Vice Chairman over comments on radio

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its First Vice Chairman for Keta Constituency in the Volta Region over some comments he was purported to have made on a local radio station.

A copy of the suspension letter in possession of MyNewsGh.com reveals that Mr. Emmanuel Gemegah was alleged to have kicked against the nomination of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and threatened to unleash supporters of the party on the streets to demonstrate against the nominee.

A petition was subsequently filed by one Mr. Philip Bokorgah through Volta Regional Executive Committee that has unanimously agreed to suspend him in order to allow for investigations.

Joseph Homenya who is the Volta Regional Secretary of the NPP in the letter said “The Volta Regional Executive Committee wishes to inform you that the petition against you by Mr. Philip Bokorgah for bringing the name of the party into disrepute and public ridicule by making very damaging remarks about the party and the President.

You were alleged to have  been on Jubilee Radio in Keta describing the President’s nominee for the position of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) an alien and also took a swipe at the President for not consulting you before nominating the nominee and that,  you allegedly incited some members of the party to demonstrate against the President

Pursuant to Article 3(7)1, the Volta Regional Executive Committee by unanimous decision, has suspended you as the 1st Vice Chairman in the Keta Constituency pending an enquiry by the Regional Disciplinary Committee into your conduct. Thanks”
