NPP To Sensitize Traditional Rulers On The Need For Compilation Of New Voter’s Register

The Bono Regional Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are set to embark on sensitization tour to the various paramount chiefs in the region on the new voter’s registration exercise.

The tour which has been scheduled for 15th June, 2020 is to deliberate on issues concerning the upcoming new voter’s registration exercise slated for 30th June 2020.

In a release signed by the Regional Communication Director of NPP, Asare – Bediako Seth and copied to thepressradio.com stated that “the tour will afford the regional executives an opportunity to explain to the various traditional rulers and the need to actively engage in this important national exercise so that no qualified Ghanaian is disenfranchised in the coming general elections”.

The Electoral Commission has a constitutional mandate to compile a new voter’s register under Article 45 (a) of the 1992 constitution and that requires the support of all Ghanaians irrespective of one’s political affiliation.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission of Ghana headed by Jean Mensa has once again been slapped with another lawsuit challenging its decision to compile a new voter’s register.
