Ogum will eventually improve things – CK Akonnor

Ogum will eventually improve things in the Asante Kotoko team, I believe in him, says CK Akonnor. The former Ghana national team coach believes that, with time and hard work, Ogum will be able to make positive changes on the field. Akonnor is confident in Ogum’s potential to develop and contribute significantly to the team’s success.

Charles Kwablah (CK) Akonnor, who was also former Kotoko coach has urged fans of the club to remain hopeful in current coach Prosper Narteh Ogum amidst growing concerns over poor results.

The Porcupine Warriors are currently facing a challenging period, having slipped to eighth place in the Ghana Premier League standings after losing four matches and drawing one in their last five games.

This downturn in form has led to increased pressure on Kotoko coach Ogum, who is being called upon to orchestrate a turnaround in fortunes.

While Akonnor acknowledges Ogum’s track record and believes he can navigate through the current difficulties, he emphasises the need for the players to elevate their performance levels.

“I beg the fans to exercise patience, as Ogum has proven himself time and time again, and we have faith in him to make things right.

Since the players are the primary actors in football, they must assist the coach, but since the coach is constantly criticized, I asked the players to pay close attention to what the coach asks of them and improve their performance in order for them to get out of the situation.” Akonnor told Akoma FM in an interview.

CK Akonnor uses EPL managers as examples to highlight the value of having patience with a coach.

We can all attest that teams that practice patience with their coach perform exceptionally well; Arsenal, with Arteta and Jurgen Klopp, is a prime example of this. Perhaps Ogum has more to accomplish and a year is insufficient. Even though Kotoko is a large club with high expectations, sometimes patience and time is what the need.”

The next league game for Asante Kotoko is scheduled for Thursday night at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium against Nsoatreman FC.
