Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin ll has promised the people of Akyem Abuakwa in the Eastern Region 10 new basic schools to help improve education in that part of Ghana.
The Paramount Chief of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area made this known in Asamankese during his tour to interact with the chiefs and people of the Oboadwan area as he marks 20 years on the throne.
Addressing a durbar, the Okyenhene said: “We are going to build 10 schools”.
The schools will be named Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin Basic Schools and are aimed at providing quality education to the children within the area.
The Okyenhene further revealed his plans to boost agriculture in the region while curbing illegal mining activities popularly known as ‘galamsey’.
He noted that the Traditional Council is making efforts to get the chiefs to make available some lands for mass production of cocoa, and warned the people to “stay away from illegal mining” due to its devastating effects on the environment.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin ll also used the opportunity to admonish the youth to desist from engaging in drug abuse.
