A Letter To Mahama Over His Pretentious U-Turn On Free S.H.S

Dear Mr Mahama,

Your pretentious u-turn on President Akufo-Addo’s Free Senior High School implementation has been exposed by the affable and competent Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

You and your surrogates, since 2012, have caused for over forty advertisements to be made against President Akufo-Addo’s Free S.H.S flagship policy.

You and your henchmen have waged relentless battles against the policy even after it contributed to your humiliating exit.

Having come to the painful reality that another humiliating defeat stares you in the face as the next elections lurk around the corner, you have suddenly but unsurprisingly said that Free S.H.S is here to stay and that you would review it when you are given the mantle of this country’s leadership.

Deep in the dusty recesses of your mind, heart and soul, you know that you are lying. You have always hated this policy of this government, and absolutely nothing will pacify your stony heart to accommodate this policy.

Let me not sidestep the main issue. The Vice President of the Republic has said that even if you were still in power, free S.H.S would still be a stranger to Ghanaians simply because you never believed in it. This is what he has said;

“I’m 100% certain that if John Mahama was President today, there will be no Free SHS”

Why would you embrace a policy you have always found to be a sheer waste of our resources, a policy that is of no importance to us? You are only making a u-turn because of the repercussive outcomes for you and your party.

Vice President Bawumia also contends that if indeed you have ideas to make the policy better, you would have made them known to the general public and would not always be harping on the mantra that you will review it!

You may have said that Ghanaians are forgetful and that they easily forget events of the past, you are deluding yourself, Mr Mahama.

Ghanaians still remember that you promised a one-time premium of health insurance and you never delivered.

You are having a droughty outing, and thinking that singing this melodic song about the Free S.H.S policy would clear the doubts Ghanaians have about you, Sir, wake up from wonderland.

As the Vice President indicated, three years after you lost power, you are still singing about holding a broad-based consultative engagement with stakeholders in the sector to see the way forward, the logical question is that what review or reforms have you been disturbing our ears with?

So in the unlikely event that you win power, you assemble the giants in the industry, they come up with nothing but the same methodologies the Akufo-Addo administration has been adopting, wouldn’t that amount to you having deceived the good people of Ghana?

You can never take care of a baby given birth to by another woman! The mother of a child knows him better and cares more about him than a stepmother.

Akufo-Addo is not dead for us to make you a stepmother to his Free Senior High School policy.

Let me end here by reiterating the main point captured by Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia that what are you really coming to the table with to ‘better’ the Free Senior High School programme?
