A final-year student from O’Reilly Senior High School (SHS) has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of his classmate during a violent altercation on the school campus.
The tragic incident has left the school community in shock and mourning.
The altercation, which took place on Monday, September 2, began as a heated argument between the two students and escalated into a physical confrontation. Reports indicate that the suspect allegedly used a sharp object to stab his colleague three times.
The victim was immediately rushed to the LEKMA hospital by fellow students but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Enoch Sackey, the father of the deceased, recounted the tragic events leading to his son’s death. “What happened was yesterday [Monday, September 2] I saw my boy off to come to school and I also went to work. So I was at work and my niece called me that Edward was having a misunderstanding, one of the students was having a misunderstanding with Edward so I should come,” Sackey said.
Despite his niece’s urgent plea, Sackey was dismayed to learn that the teachers were not intervening in the situation. As he rushed to the school, he received another call informing him that Edward had been stabbed and was lying on the school premises. By the time Sackey arrived at the hospital, his son had already succumbed to his injuries.
