Otumfuo’s chief ‘killer’ remanded

Sadat Mohammed, aka Alhaji, the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of the Otumfuo’s Asamponhene, Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduo, has been remanded in police custody.

Police investigators hauled him to the Asokore Mampong District Court after he was captured and brought to Kumasi last week to seek proper custody for him whilst investigation continues.

The suspect is expected to reappear before the same court on October 8, 2019—a police source has informed DAILY GUIDE on strict condition of anonymity.

The source told the paper that the plea of the suspected killer was not taken, explaining that he (suspect) was only taken to court for permit to remain in police custody.

The police indicated to the court that they needed ‘enough time’ to gather more pieces of evidence before the hearing of the case would officially commence in court.

And since it was unlawful to detain the suspect in police custody after 48 hours of his arrest, the police decided to send him to court to seek proper custody for him.

Burkina arrest:

Sadat, who was said to be a friend of the late Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduo, vanished into thin air after the chief was found dead in his car at Ebuom on the outskirts of Ejura.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command after preliminary investigations became convinced that Sadat had a hand in the gruesome killing of the chief so they declared him wanted.

All efforts by the police to arrest Sadat proved futile for some weeks, but he was eventually captured in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, where he was hiding and had reportedly planned to settle down.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command, with the assistance of Interpol Ghana and Burkina Faso, teamed up to arrest the suspect.
