Pardon female prisoners over bad living conditions – Akuapem Poloo begs gov’t

Ex-convict and actress Rosemond Brown is begging the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to offer a presidential pardon to some female prisoners in the country’s prisons, especially the aged.

The controversial actress who was fond of twerking on social media a few years ago was arrested by the Ghana Police Service and put behind bars after she took nude photos of herself and her underage son.

She was prosecuted and jailed for the offense but later released after an appeal by her legal team. Nonetheless, she spent some time on her custodial sentence.

However, after her experience at the prisons as an inmate, Akuapem Poloo says considering the conditions under which these female inmates live, there is a need for the government to step in and pardon some of them and also increase their feeding grants.

“There are some of them who have been in the prison for so long, they are old now, some even have broken legs, I beg that the government pardon them”, Akuapem Poloo said in an interview with Kingdom FM.

She further revealed that “When I went I saw some young girls who have been declared as condemned, they have no home. I beg the government to pardon them. I’m not saying what they did was right, but to err is human, they should be forgiven”.
