Pastor rubbishes Akufo-Addo’s order on public gatherings

The Fomena District Police Command has arrested a pastor for defying church service ban.

The 29-year-old Benjamin Konadu Yiadom, a presiding pastor of the True Teachings Gospel Church, Dompoase branch in the Adansi North district of the Ashanti region.

According to Superintendent Albert Fii Okyere, District Police Commander, he dispatched his patrol team to the premises of the church on Monday evening around 9:00pm, after he received complaints of an ongoing activity in spite of the ban which forms part of the drastic measures taken by government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

The Commander said “after the patrol team stormed the church service they met more than 30 church members together, but because of the insufficient prison rooms to contain all the 30 church members in their command, they agreed to arrest the leader of the group”.

In an interview with the arrested pastor, he said “he doesn’t have radio set to monitor news across the country about police arresting the people who breach the President’s orders on public gathering”.

Meanwhile, sources say, pastor Benjamin Konadu Yiadom, will be put before court on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
