Singer, Peter Okoye has taken to Twitter to appeal to the Nigerian Police Force on behalf of his colleague Seun Kuti.
In a viral video, Seun Kuti was captured slapping, pushing and yelling at a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge.
In his defence, Seun said the police officer tried to kill his himself and his family, hence his reaction.
However, many have taken to social media to react to the video, with some condemning Seun for slapping a policeman.
Reacting to the viral video, Peter Okoye asked the police force to temper justice with mercy.
He also asked people tagging him and expected him to be excited over the assault to desist from doing so. His comment comes following the confrontation the two singers had prior to the 2023 election.
Peter Okoye tweeted: “Quite an unfortunate incident and from reports, it seems Seun’s family was in danger hence the altercation.
“When you understand what happens when a man is put in a situation to protect his family from any form of danger, our emotions get the better of us.
“I ask and plead that the #NigerianPoliceForce accept our unreserved apologies for the unfortunate outburst and tamper justice with mercy.”
