A Policeman escorting a van full of assorted drinks from Bandankwanta to Tinga in the Savannah Region was forced to engage three robbers in a gun battle.
Reports indicate the policeman was on the distribution van with the driver and a sales person when the three masked armed robbers emerged from a nearby bush and started firing at them.
The policeman fired back and hit one of the armed robbers in the ankle leading to his arrest while the two others fled the scene.
The shot robber has been identified as 25-year-old Fulani herdsmen by name Seidu Salifu.
The Bole police have revealed they discovered one locally manufactured short gun, one live cartridge, a face mask, one Tecno mobile phone and a cash of GHC130 on the wounded suspect.
They added that in the cause of interrogation, Seidu named his accomplices as Sumaila and Elliasu all of Bole.
The suspect is on admission at Bole District Hospital under police watch. Bole residents have lauded the policeman for his act of bravery.
