About 33 people including a one-year-old child have been confirmed dead in an accident at Dompoase near Komenda in the Central Region.
The accident, according to Joy News‘ Richard Kwado Nyarko, occurred around midnight on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.
He told Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday that the accident involved two buses, one said to be travelling from Takoradi to Accra – with registration number GR 5704-18 and the other with registration number GN 3780-10 coming from the opposite direction.
He said the Takoradi-bound bus was said to be attempting to overtake another vehicle when it collided with the Accra-bound bus.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Cape Coast and others were at the scene to ensure the road is cleared at the time of this report.
A number of injured persons have been sent to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital while the bodies of dead passengers have been conveyed to the morgue.
