PHOTOS: 12 children injured in early morning crash

Twelve school children were injured in an accident on Thursday morning when the taxi they were travelling in collided with another vehicle in Inwabi Road, Isipingo, in KwaZulu-Natal.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics arrived on the scene to find that the taxi had come to a standstill on an island.

He said:

Twelve school children between the ages of two and 14 were found to have sustained injuries, ranging from minor to moderate.

Jamieson added that more ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

“Once all 12 children were stabilised, they were transported to various Durban hospitals for the further treatment that they required.”

He said the events that led up to the accident were unknown, “however, SAPS was on the scene and will be investigating further”.
