He was billed to commission a project on Tuesday morning to distribute free nose masks to the Asuogyaman constituents before his accident.

Last week, the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed called for the imposition of “on the spot fines” for drivers who leave their broken-down vehicles on the road.

The Minister, speaking to JoyNews, said parked trucks on the highways are a major cause of accidents in his part of the country.

Speaking as part of the #ArriveAlive campaign, Mr. Saeed said until a drastic action is taken to serve as a deterrent, that norm of drivers abandoning their faulty vehicles on the road will not end.

“If they cannot move it, they should call a tow truck to tow it away,” he said.

The Minister said the National Road Safety Authority to consider introducing spot fines to reduce the man-made hazard.
