Phyna Otabor threatened Big Brother Naija and its sponsors with a lawsuit. Not only the sponsor of the show but also the BBnaija fraternity. In this fight about not getting what is due her after the show, Phyna Otabor has gotten back up support from her friends in the skit industry.

The Practitioners of Content Creating, Skit-making and Influencers Guild of Nigeria (PCCSIGN) has written to the organisers of Big Brother Naija reality TV show, Multichoice Nigeria, over the outstanding debt owed to one of its members, ijeoma Josephina Otabor, a.k.a Phyna, who won Season 7 of the reality show in 2022.

PCCSIGN in the letter signed by its acting national president, Michael Obinna Nwabufor, a copy of which was shared via its Instagram page on Monday, noted that Phyna was still being owed part of the prices she won from the show two years after.

The letter partly reads: “We, the Practitioners of Content Creating, Skit-making, and Influencers Guild (PCCSIGN), writes to you on behalf of ijeoma Josephina Otabor known as “Phyna’, a valued member of our guild, regarding the outstanding debts owed by Quidax Global – 1BTC= $70, 052.00, Seven-Up Bottling Company (Pepsi)-1 year supply of Pepsi products, Travelbeta – A trip for 2 to Dubai, and Evans Industries (Unik Soap) – 1 year supply of soap product, which constitute part of the prizes she won as the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7 (Level Up), held from July 23rd to October 2nd, 2022.”

The Guild urged Multichoice to facilitate the release of the prizes owed to Phyna by the aforementioned brands, noting that it was imperative that sponsors of the Big Brother Naija franchise uphold their commitments to the winners of the reality TV show.

“Failure to fulfill promised prizes not only reflects poorly on the sponsors but also undermines the integrity of the show and raises doubts in the public opinion,” the letter added.

So far, a few sponsors—Unik soap and Travel Beta have come out to narrate their side of the story. They made a trip available for Phyna, but Multichoice didn’t get back to them. And Unik Soap claims to have sent all that they promised to Phyna’s former manager.

Phyna Otabor’s friends in the skit industry have been vocal in supporting her cause, urging Big Brother Naija and its sponsors to address the issue. Despite some sponsors like Unik Soap and Travel Beta coming forward with their side of the story, there is still a lack of clarity on why Phyna has not received what was promised to her after the show.
