Kwara state police command has paraded no fewer than 108 children and women it rescued from illegal rehabilitation centre.
The command said it rescued the victims from Gaa’Odota in Ilorin West local government area of the state.
Commissioner of Police Kayode Egbetokun said the command acted on an intelligent report on the activities of the owner of illegal centre.
He said men of the command raided the centre and discovered that some of them had been there for over five years.
Egbetokun explained that most of them had been kept in an unhygienic condition, adding many had been afflicted with diseases without treatment.
He also noted that some of the inhabitant of the centre are chained and under feed.
He maintained that the command would carry out more surveillance to uncovered such centres in other parts of the state
He promised to keep in touch with the parents some of the victims via phones as that would ensure their unification with their families.
The owner of the centre, Abdulraheem Owotutu, said all those found at the centre were brought by their families for treatment .
He promised to assist the police with information on how to contact all the ‘detainees’ families.
