Police foil robbery attack on Filling station, arrest two suspects

The Swift intervention of Night Police patrol team in Suhum Thursday dawn around 3:00 am foiled a robbery attack on a Shell Filling Station along the Suhum to Asamankese Road.

The armed robbers numbering five, armed with chisel, hammer, cutter, knives first attacked the watchman on duty and held him hostage before entering the target office where sales are kept.

Upon seeing the Police Patrol team, the armed robber jumped into a Hyundai H200 commercial Vehicle with registration number GX 2887 – 17 and a mini Kia truck with registration Number GW 4359-14 they used for the operation and sped off but the Police Patrol team gave them a hot chase and which Enoch Agyepong, 22, the driver in-charge Hyundai H200 commercial Vehicle was arrested but the rest managed to escape, however, later Joseph Author-26, one of the accomplices was also arrested.

According to Police report “upon inspection at the scene, a window at the back of the manager’s office where thousands of Ghana Cedis is being kept in a safe was found destroyed whereas the metal door to the safe was badly damaged. No amount of cash nor item could be taken by the robbers due to the swift response of the patrol team”.

The Public Relation Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed that the exhibit vehicles and the implementation have been impounded by the Police.

Meanwhile, the two suspects were on Thursday Put before the Suhum Magistrate Court and have been remanded into Police custody to assist in further investigations.
