Police get arrest warrant for ‘suspected Ashanti chief killer’

Police in the Ashanti Region have secured a court warrant for the arrest of one Mohammed Sadat, as they pursue the killers of a sub-chief in the Ashanti region.

Mohammed Sadat, 38, is said to be the suspect in the gruesome murder of the prominent Manhyia Palace sub-chief who used to the chief driver of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Asantehene’s war marshal, Asamponhene Nana Kwadwo Afuduo’s body was abandoned in his Land Cruiser vehicle and set on fire by the alleged killers on Sunday, August 18.

It is the second time in 10-years a prominent personality linked to the Golden Stool has been killed under mysterious circumstances.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II

Asantehene’s spiritualist with the Nsumankwaa Division, Opanin Akosa, was shot to death by unknown assailants at Atafoa in Kumasi, in 2009.

Three people have been arrested and are assisting police investigations.

Meanwhile, Deputy Ashanti Region Police Commander, ACP David Agyemang Djem, is expected to update the media on the status of investigations.
