Police Inspector Allegedly Beats Wife To Death

A Police Inspector has been arrested in Akwa Ibom state in Nigeria for allegedly beating a widow to death.

The Police Inspector, Bassey Ikpe, was arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command or allegedly beating a widow, Mrs. Deborah Nkereuwem Nkpenie, to death and the Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, had instructed the Deputy Commissioner, State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) to carry out thorough investigation into the matter, spokesman of the command Odiko Macdon disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday.

According to Macdon, the reports made on the incident in some dailies and online media in the state, led to the decision being taken by the police.
