Policeman and friends attacked by 2 armed robbers, hidden police AK rifle with 25 ammunitions stolen

A Police Corporal stationed with the Wa Upper West Regional Command has had his police service rifle bearing rifle number 156677 allegedly seized by armed robbers on the Sawla road while travelling in the company of friends who were civilians.

According to incident report in possession of MyNewsGh.com, on Friday 19th February 2021 at around 2pm, the Police corporal Isaac Yanborigya of Wa police was accompanied by two other civilians namely Abdul Rahman Yakubu and Abdul Shakura Isha on board a Toyota RAV 4 with Registration number GR 5551-Y which was being driven by the police were accosted by armed robbers on the Sawla road.

The Corporal was the one driving the vehicle and all three were returning from Dormaa Ahenkro.

When they reached the outskirts of Sawla, two armed robbers crossed them, pointed a gun at all three of them and ordered them out of their vehicle.

The robbers allegedly took their money and phones and after searching their vehicle, the robbers found AK-47 rifle No. 156677 and 25 rounds of ammunition and bolted away with it.

The Corporal and his friends reported the incident to the nearest police station.

The Police FPU men and the local police stormed the scene but the robbers could not be found.
