I will take EC to court if they fails to compile new register…Dr Agyenim-Boateng threats

A firebrand communications team member of the ruling party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Central Region, Dr Nana Yaw Agyenim Boateng, has said the Electoral Commission (EC) risks being meet him in court if doesn’t not compile a new voter’s register for the 2020 general elections.

 

He said the creation of the new regions in Ghana by the government makes it mandatory for the EC to compile a new register for this year’s elections.

Dr Agyenim- Boateng explained that all the regions have unique codes on the voters register, therefore, new codes would have to be created for the electorate in the new regions that have been created, he quizzed.

 

He also said that the EC cannot use the code of the Western region for resident of Western North ,  Ahafo region to Bono region because the code is a new region and must be given a unique code.

 

Dr Agyenim-Boateng threats to go to court and seek an interojunctory injunction and put it on the 2020 elections if the Electoral Commission (EC) doesn’t compile a new register because the the creation of the new regions alone makes it compulsory and constitutional mandatory for a new register to be compiled, he said.

 

Dr Agyenim-Boateng added that ” All the regions have unique codes and so you cannot use Ahafo region code for Savannah or Bono region code for Western North region code, that will be illegal for EC not to compile a new voter’s register.
