NDC fumes as NCA boss represents NPP at IPAC meeting

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised red flags over the appearance of the Director-General of National Communication Authority (NCA) Joe Anokye at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee Meeting(IPAC) as a representative of the ruling NPP.

According to the party, the meeting was to discuss a new procurement and collation of results using services of the telecommunication companies as the backbone to transmit 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary election results.

National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, told members of the NDC in Koforidua that the Director-General who is in charge of a regulatory body of the telecommunication companies was surprisingly introduced at the IPAC Meeting as representative of the NPP.

The move, according to Ofosu Ampofo, is “strange” and “unacceptable”

“Strange things are happening in this country. Only a few days ago, there was an Inter-Party Advisory Committee Meeting at the EC headquarters. When the NPP came and they were introducing their representative, Surprisingly-low and behold they introduced Joe Anokye, the Director-General of National Communication Authority as the representative of the NPP at the IPAC meeting”.

Mr.Ampofo added: “the IPAC meeting was going to discuss, a new procurement for registration and collation of results. And the EC said that they were going to use the Telcos as the backbone on which their system will ride. And so if you are going to use the telcos -I am talking about MTN, Glo and Vodofone and others as the backbone to run your system then the man who is in charge of regulating the Telcos is now representing the NPP at IPAC, how? So the NDC has raised the red flags and we say that this is unacceptable”.

Mr.Ofosu Ampofo said this while speaking at a symposium and handing over Ceremony by the Koforidua Technical University branch of Tertiary Institutions Network of the NDC (TEIN) .

He said the NDC is monitoring and analysing all electoral processes to be deployed for the 2020 election to ensure that it is free, fair and transparent. He said the NDC is hopeful of winning the 2020 elections but charged members of the party particularly the students to be part of the “Rescue Mission Operation”.

“2020 campaign is a rescue mission, I want it to engrain in your mind and everywhere that to rescue is not an easy task, so we are going for a rescue mission. Rescue Ghana from tyrannical democratic rulers, they are masquerading as democrats but they are tyrannical and dictators. We are rescuing this country from dishonest people, who promised that we will build a lean government because the NDC has too many ministers but they came to give us 120 ministers. We need to rescue this country from family and friends syndrome”.

On his part, the National Youth Organizer , George Opare Addo said NDC and John Mahama’s track records in the development of the country makes the party a better alternative than the ruling NPP.

“We are a better alternative than the NPP. Our alternative is not scary. The alternative that gave you GETFUND cannot be said to be scary. The alternative that gave you Universities in each of the ten(10) Regions cannot be scary. The alternative that brought the students Loan Trust fund cannot be scary, the alternative that converted polytechnics to University cannot be scary.it is a proper alternative”

Present at the Program were Edward Bawa and Thomas Ampem Nyarko, Members of Parliament for Bongo and Asuogyaman respectfully, as well as Okai Minta, Eastern Regional Youth Organizer, Bismark Tetteh-Parliamentary candidate of NDC, Upper Manya, William Atamudzi-Eastern Regional Vice-Chairman among others.
