President Mahama inaugurates new governing Board for GNPA

President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama has reconstituted the governing board of the Ghana National Procurement Agency (GNPA), appointing three personalities to steer the agency toward improved governance, transparency, and performance in the country’s procurement and commodity trade sector.

The newly appointed board members include Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II, Koasehene and Manwerehene of the Techiman Traditional Area; Nana Kwasi Konadu Yiadom I, Ayeasuhene and Akwanserahene of the same traditional area; and Mr. Henry Yaw Acheampong, a lecturer and native of Aworowa.

They were formally sworn into office on Thursday, November 7, 2025, by the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Techiman North, during a brief but colorful ceremony held in Accra.

The Ghana National Procurement Agency Limited (GNPA) operates as a government-owned limited liability company under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry. Its core mandate includes the procurement, trading and export of commodities, serving as a key institution in Ghana’s economic and supply chain ecosystem.

For decades, the GNPA has contributed to national growth by facilitating trade in essential goods, supporting small and medium enterprises, and promoting transparency in public procurement.

Addressing the ceremony, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare praised President Mahama for appointing individuals with proven leadership qualities, community influence and professional experience to guide the GNPA. She observed that their appointment comes at a time when government is intensifying efforts to reform Ghana’s procurement systems to ensure greater efficiency and accountability in public resource management.

The Minister expressed optimism that the new board would provide visionary leadership to reposition GNPA as a key player in Ghana’s industrialization and agribusiness agenda.

She encouraged the board to embrace innovation and technology to enhance the sourcing, storage and distribution of essential commodities, while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and value for money.
