A renowned journalist by name Khalid Alhassan who works with Radio Link in Techiman Bono region, has made a passionate appeal to President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama to consider the Member of Parliament for Dormaa west Mr. Vicent Oppong Asamoah in his appointment…
Statement as follows…
PRESIDENT MAHAMA SHOULD CONSIDER HON. VINCENT OPPONG ASAMOAH FOR AN APPOINTMENT
I will like to congratulate President Mahama for the massive electoral victory in the 2024 elections.
A victory, which by far, is the biggest in terms of margins for any Presidential candidate to achieve in Ghana’s political history, particularly coming from opposition.
Whiles at it, it is also worthy to commend the President, for the swiftness with which he has formed his Government, its quite remarkable.
However, I would want to draw President Mahama’s attention to the fact that he needs to consider the Member of Parliament for Dormaa West Constituency in the Bono Region Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah for a position if not a Ministerial portfolio in his Government.
Mr. President, though, you seem to have almost completed in forming your Government, a complete neglect of Hon. Vincent OPPONG ASAMOAH will be very disappointing.
These are my reasons;
1. In terms of Ministerial experience, Hon. Oppong Asamoah has gathered some already. He was the Deputy Minister for Sports in Mahama’s first term. Therefore, I believe he would have been a better choice than Hon. Kofi Adams as a Sports Minister.
2. He was one of the MP’s who distinquished themselves well in the 8th Parliament to bring the party back into power. As a matter of fact, he was the Ranking Member of the Works and Housing Committee and also a member of the Poverty Reduction Strategy Committee.
3. As a third term Member of Parliament, I think he has more experience in terms of Parliamentary duties than some of his colleagues who have been considered for various Ministerial roles in this Government.
4. Another important point the President should consider is that, if he is rewarding former Deputy Ministers for substantive Ministerial portfolios like the case of Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah who was once a Deputy Education Minister in charge of Tertiary, then Hon Vincent Oppong Asamoah equally distinguished himself as a Deputy Minister of the erstwhile Youth & Sports Ministry and therefore deserves consideration.
5. In terms of votes and consistency, I think the Dormaa West Legislator Hon Vincent Oppong Asamoah has proven to be a force to recon with. Virtually he has turned the constituency to a safe seat for the NDC in the Bono Region and therefore deserves some recognition.
6. Finally, maybe I need to humbly refresh the mind of the President about the educational qualifications of Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah; he holds an MBA in Public Administration from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and a BA from the University of Cape Coast. Moroever he was a former MCE for Dormaa Municipal.
God bless Ghana!
God bless the NDC!!
God bless Dormaa West!!!
Signed…
