Pru East poised to drive Feed Ghana Project – MP Declares

The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has expressed his excitement over the launch of the Feed Ghana Project.

According to him, the constituents of Pru East are eager and well-positioned to play a major role in its successful implementation.

The Feed Ghana Project, an initiative by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, was officially launched on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Techiman Methodist School Park in the Bono East Region. The program is a development project, popularly referred to as Yeridua, aimed to reduce imports from neighboring countries and it is part of a broader strategy by the government to enhance food security in the country.

In an interview with the media after the launch, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam explained that the Feed Ghana Project has been welcomed by the people of Pru East, who are eager to contribute to the success of the program.

“The Feed Ghana Project is an initiative by the President aimed at achieving food security. I believe it is a project that will go a very long way to help the country.

“We can all agree that the agriculture sector has the potential to generate significant revenue and contribute immensely to Ghana’s development. The Feed Ghana Project has officially been launched today, and we at Pru East are very excited that President John Dramani Mahama and his government chose to launch the program in Techiman, the capital of the Bono East Region.” He said.

He stressed on the constituency’s strong agricultural foundation, including its abundance of arable land and water bodies that support year-round farming. He also revealed that 60 farmers from Yeji, a key town within the constituency, are already actively participating in the program. According to him, this early involvement is a clear sign that Pru East is ready to lead in the implementation of the national project.

“Our constituency, Pru East, boasts vast arable land and numerous water bodies that support agriculture. We cultivate crops like yam, cassava, pepper, okro, tomatoes including many others which will help make the Feed Ghana Project a success.

“We have some 60 farmers from Yeji who are already on board so far as the Feed Ghana Project is concern, so we in the Pru East constituency have a major role to play in the implementation of this project.” He stated.

The Feed Ghana Project is expected to not only enhance food production but also address unemployment and poverty, especially in rural communities. With the active participation of constituencies like Pru East, the initiative is poised to become a transformative force in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
