Rainstorm rips off 18 houses, over 24 persons displaced

A rainstorm has ripped off 18 houses in Atiwa East in the Eastern Region displacing at least 24 occupants.

No casualty was recorded in the incident which occurred in three communities-Kadowaso, Awirensua and Anyinam.

Also affected were Anyinam Zion Kingdargaten school block and Anyinam Methodist Basic School.

The displaced residents are currently perching with friends and families while others sleep in Churches amid concerns of social distancing in the fight against COVID-19.

The Atiwa East District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Anokye Frimpong Philip in an interview with Starr News stated that assessments have been done to facilitate relief support for the victims.
