Renowned Jamaican producer recognized Shatta Wale for popularizing Dancehall Music in Africa

Celebrated Jamaican producer, Contractor hailed African Dancehall King Charles Nii Armah Mensah well known as Shatta Wale for his impact on making Dancehall Music mainstream in Africa. He thanked Shatta Wale for availing himself to making the genre a popular one in Africa, not forgetting how Shatta birthed an artist like Burna Boy in the process.

Contractor praised the Nima-born dancehall star for his unique sound, lyrical inclination, and the ability to connect with audiences—across the continent. He also credited him for bringing a fresh perspective to the genre and helping to elevate it to new heights.

The likes of Burna Boy, Stonebwoy, and uprising stars all looked up to him before getting to where they are now. Contractor is reminding them of who Shatta Wale is and how he has impacted Africa with the genre.

Contractor tweet reads; – “Ghana On behalf of #Jamaica, I would like to thanks #ShattaWale and #ShattaMovement for making Dancehall Music popular in Africa long before it was trendy to do so which gave rise to other artists like @burnaboy and much more”.

The Jamaican producer has come a long way with Shatta Wale, after he felt his impact on a project he added him on. He didn’t know much about Shatta Wale and his impact until he met him and did an album and put him on as the face of the project.

Contractor has had a different mindset and feelings about the Gringo hit-maker when it comes to his influence on the African music scene. And also collaborating and working together. He has seen first-hand the influence and impact Shatta Wale has had on the music industry, not only in Africa but then also globally. Contractor recognize Shatta Wale as a trailblazer of Dancehall music and respects his contribution to the genre.

The collaboration between him and Shatta Wale on the ‘Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica’ Album featuring Chris Brown, Julian Marley, Ed Sheeran, Alonestar Sheeran and various artistes has not only benefited both, but has also contributed to the growth and popularity of Dancehall music in Africa.

In addition to charting on the Billboard, the ‘Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica Album‘ had significant international sales, walled on the street of NewYork on giant screens and was even shortlisted for a Grammy consideration. Contractor will never forget the imprint that Shatta Wale left on the Album and his project. Not forgetting Jamaican Garisson Christmas Album he headlined.
