Repeat the 2019/2020 Academic Year in September, GES Advised – Educate Ghana Summit

The famous Educationist, Mr. Boadi William who doubles as the President of Educate Ghana Summit is advising the Ghana Education Service to repeat the 2019/2020 academic year due to improper planning of curriculum implementation and COVID-19 pandemic.

The MoE, GES and NaCCA’s claim to implement a curriculum without reference books and the subsequent caution to schools not to use the old materials for teaching and learning, actually slowed down academic work, largely, and prevented all schools from proper education. First term of the academic year, pupils/students were not properly taught. Teachers were even psychologically molested before the beginning of the academic year due to the by -force curriculum workshop in August, 2019.

Moreover, the second term too, COVID-19 pandemic caused unplanned break for all schools and the break, as of now, is in full force. Obviously, third term’s been quashed already.

Therefore, I humbly urge MoE and GES apply my candid advice. They should allow the final year students to go to school with careful plans as proposed by other stakeholders and still keep the lower classes at home without any vacation tuitions.

In September, 2020, GES must repeat the 2019/2020 academic year for proper education not just schooling as some other people think.
