Residents Of Tema, Ashaiman Jubilate As President Akufo-Addo Cuts Sod For Solid Waste Treatment Facility & Sewer Network and Waste Water Treatment Plant

His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on sunday 25th of October,2020 hit the ground for the commencement of the ultramodern Sewer Network & Waste Water Treatment Plant solid waste treatment Facility at Tema whiles the Solid Waste Treatment Plant will be constructed at Ashaiman both in the Greater Accra Region.

 

The twin sod cutting which was held at the Tema community three park saw mammoth crowd,traditional leaders to witness the event.

 

It will be recalled that President Akufo-Addo declared make the nation’s capital Accra the cleanest City in Africa by the end of his term in office.

 

The ministry of Sanitation and water resources led by enthusiastic Hon. Cecelia Abena Dapaah together with the Dynamic entrepreneur Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Group Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies collaborated to ensure the vision of President Akufo-Addo is achieved.

 

The Jospong Group together with it’s partners in partnership with the government is constructing an ultramodern solid waste treatment plant across the nation.

 

Some residents in an interview coffered the leader and Chairman of the Jospong Group Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong as extraordinary,visionary,dynamic entrepreneur for his Unflappable efforts made in ensuring Ghana becomes the cleanest City in Africa.

 

The Shipi and also Secretary for the Tema Traditional Council Nii Armah Somponu II on behalf of the Traditional applauded the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government, the Jospong Group for siting the project on their land.

 

“The mayor of Tema metropolis promised to restore Tema to it’s old glory when he took the mantle as the metropolitan chief of Tema. He also expressed gratitude to the member of parliament for the area Hon. Titus Glover for his immense support.  The traditional council will support your vision to be accomplished. Nii Armah Somponu II added.

 

Greater Accra regional Minister Hon. Ishmael Armah Ashittey in his address thanked President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on behalf of the Traditional leaders.

 

“It is need a great privilege for me and the people of Greater to witness the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo cutting sod for two significant projects in the region. He also acknowledged the present and past government officials for their support to the president. Let me also applaud the Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group Of Companies Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong. Sewerage has become a headache to the residents in tema and it is due to these problems the government decided to partner the Jospong Group to construct the sewerage facility in Tema. Last but not the least let me say a big thank you to Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong for partnering the government to construct the project.

 

He also appealed to the MMDCES in the catchment of the project to collaborate with the contractors to ensure the project is completed on time.

 

The Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong in a brief remarks recognize the efforts by his partners from France and Hungary.

 

“It is an honour to have the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo here today for this historic sod cutting. Thank you assisting the indigenous companies to survive. Myself and Group of Companies will not take this gesture for granted your Excellency.

 

We wish to thank Hon.Cecilia Abena Dapaah, minister for Sanitation and water resources for being a strong backbone in the President’s vision of making Ghana clean. We do appreciate your hardwork,dedication and great counsel which is pushing private sector participation to achieve the clean Ghana agenda”. Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong added.

 

He also assured the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that 95 percent of the workforce will be Ghanaians.

 

Lastly Dr. Agyepong showed unflinching thank you the land owners, traditional leaders and MMDCES for the release land and providing the necessary support to ensure the people of Tema east,west and central have a cleaner and healthier environment.

Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah also appreciated the Members of parliament for Tema west,east and central for collaborating with the Jospong Group and the Sanitation ministry for solve the long awaited sewerage problem for the people of Tema.

 

She also appealed to the residents of Ashaiman to also support the President’s vision to make it achievable. She also lauded President Akufo-Addo for supporting the household toilet projects in ensuring open defecation becomes a thing of the past in the country.

 

 

The President of the republic of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his remarks before cutting the sod for the historic project to finally take off commended the Jospong Group Chairman and his partners for supporting the vision of his government.

 

“It is a great honour to join the good people of Tema to cut the sod for the Commencement of the sewerage project in Tema and solid waste treatment Facility in Ashaiman. Kudos to the Jospong Group and it’s partners for collaborating with my government to ensure my vision to make Ghana the cleanest City in Africa is achieved. It is expected to serve about four hundred indigenous of Tema and It’s environs”.

 

He also expressed the readiness of his government to collaborate with the private sector businesses.

 

The Jospong Group of Companies has been ranked as the third best Sanitation firm globally.
