Samini features Shatta Wale on Christmas song

After throwing shots at each other for years amid heated brawls among their respective fans, Samini and Shatta Wale have collaborated on a song.

Announcing the much anticipated song titled, ‘Celebration’ on Twitter, Samini, knowing how some music enthusiasts have been itching to see him and Shatta Wale work on a record said: “Careful what you wish for; you just might not be as ready #HGF. #SM @shattawalegh weh yu seh ??? Pah pah pah pah.”

Over the years there has been tension between the two dancehall acts with each claiming to be king of the genre. Both artistes with huge fan base recorded songs targeted at each other while highlighting why they are better than the other.

In 2016, Shatta Wale and Samini smoked peace pipe after the former retweeted the latter’s birthday message to him, triggering a chain reaction of reconciliation tweets between them.

Even after that gesture, Samini and Shatta Wale, performing together was a near impossibility to many taking into cognizance the fact that they had for several years flayed each over who is supreme. But the two made history on December 3, 2016 when they performed together at Saminifest.

Midway through Samini’s performance, he paused and announced that, “Today the biggest thing is about to happen in Ghana. Peace is what we need going into the 2016 Elections and as a sign of unity my brother Shatta Wale is joining me on stage.”

Few months after that the reconciliation, Samini expressed readiness to collaborate with Shatta Wale while explaining the reason for ending the feud.

“I will sing along with him. He surprised me. He apologised to me. Showing up on set [Saminifest], that was a surprise. He did make a mark and it helped the street calm down. It was an election year. We wanted to maintain power. We needed a unified system. He really did great…I think he deserves my response. He knocked well. I don’t think anyone deserves my response now if they bring beef,” he said.

It does appear the two artistes waited for the right time to release the song considering the fact that Christmas is just some five days ahead; SaminiFest is holding tomorrow, December 21 at Dansoman.

Already, social media is buzzing with reactions over the song produced by Brainy Beatz.
