Scandal Rocks NDC UK & Ireland chapter

The once calm NDC UK and Ireland Chapter is on fire now as the chapter prepares to elect new chapter executives.

It is alleged that known associate of the incumbent Chairman who is also one of the contestants for the Chapter’s chairmanship position, allegedly paid money in excess of £7,700 into the bank accounts of the chapter and some branches, all in an attempt to rig the forthcoming elections. The said monies paid into the accounts of four branches were then allocated to various names they were trying to smuggle into the electoral register to vote for the incumbent Chairman. The modus operandi of this scheme was to identify new and old members who have not paid their dues as the time of the cut-off date, pay for them thus inducing them to vote for the incumbent chairman.

A credible source indicates that on the 12th of December 2022 a known associate of the incumbent chairman, deposited £2,000 in the Chapter account which was to benefit the North London Branch and was receipted. This money was then allocated to their dormant allies in the chapter to qualify them to vote.

This however backfired and a complaint lodged with the chapter electoral committee and those involved summoned. They however failed to make appearance before the committee. Further checks indicate that the same known associate of the incumbent on the 9th and 12th of December paid a total of £840 into the North London Branch of the NDC.

The payment was made as £120 each for seven (7) people raising concern among party members.Same strategy was used in respect of the Birmingham branch where a known ally paid £1,000 into the branch accounts. South London branch was not spared as £1,000 was paid by someone linked to the incumbent chairman.

This money was allocated to names pushed into South London branch register to allow them vote for him. The same ally further made payments of £120 each for four (4) members all in an attempt them to induce them vote in their favour. The same strategy was used in respect of Reading Branch. In our possession are all the details of the bank statements showing all the payments that have been made to the various branches mentioned.

It is worth noting that only branch executives are allowed to collect dues and make payment into branch accounts on behalf of members. However none of these allies of the incumbent chairman are members of the various branches they made payment to.

It is evidently clear that the incumbent and his team are scared of losing the elections and are bent on doing everything possible to tilt the forthcoming election in their favour. This strategy implored by the incumbent and his team is alien to the NDC and its value.

Monetary influence has no place in the party politics of the great NDC and everything will be done to stop those who want to use this path to claim power. Most party members are concerned about these developments and are worried about FEC’s continues silence on this matter.

They are calling on FEC to intervene now to save the election that has already been postponed twice.
