According to Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, Obinabo’s media assistant, the commissioner raided an Onitsha car park alongside the police based on a tip-off and rescued the girls. While n their ordeal, one of the rescued girls said: “Auntie Success claimed to have employment opportunities for us in Agbor, Delta State, where we would be selling drinks in a beer parlour; but, when we arrived, we discovered that the work she had arranged for us involved prostitution.

The girls maintained that they had made several unsuccessful attempts to escape but were always caught and punished severely. They claimed that they were lured into the act to secure their school fees.
