Slain soldier in Ashaiman laid to rest

Soldier Imoro Sherrif was allegedly stabbed to death in Taifa, a suburb of Ashaiman. His remains have been laid to rest.

It was a difficult morning as military personnel took their 21-year-old colleague to his final resting place, showing their human side.

The 37 Military Hospital in Accra prepared the body for burial.

After basic Islamic procedures, Sheik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, prayed for his soul.

Last Saturday, a mob allegedly murdered the late Sherrif, a trumpeter with the Ghana Armed Forces Band based in Sunyani in the Bono Region.

He had spent the past three weeks attending a military course in Accra, while also making weekly trips to Ashaiman to see his family.

He was due to return home for the third time on Friday 4 March, but it was never to be as he was killed by a gang.

He was buried in the Burma Camp cemetery.
