Champions League and Europa League May Be Abandoned – UEFA Chief

UEFA boss Aleksandar Ceferin has admitted the Champions League and Europa League may be abandoned this season as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

The two competitions are currently suspended until further notice, along with the rest of football across the globe.

Officials are waiting to see whether there is a slowing down of the Covid-19 outbreak before making a decision on when action can resume.

But Ceferin has warned that they are on a timeframe, and could scrap both cups if the break is extended past the summer.

“We can’t play it out in September or October,” Ceferin told ZDF Sportstudio.
