Fatau Dauda ready to hand over Legon Cities captain armband to Asamoah Gyan

Captain of Legon Cities FC, Fatau Dauda, has said he’s ready to hand over the captaincy arm band to Black Stars General Captain, Asamoah Gyan, because he is his senior.

Gyan, 34, joined the Royals on a mega-deal last week that will see him spend the 2020/21 season with the club, seventeen-years after he left the Ghana Premier League to move to Europe.

Dauda, 35, also joined Legon Cities before the start of the 2019/20 season, and was made captain of the club straight away.

The former Ashgold number goalkeeper said he wouldn’t wait for management of the club to tell him what to do, but will voluntarily offer him the armband, unless he rejects it.

“I will not hesitate to relinquish my captaincy to Asamoah Gyan. I don’t need management of Legon Cities to tell me that he’s my senior and I need to give him that respect unless he doesn’t want it.

“I will give him the band anytime he’s on the pitch”, the former Black Stars number one said in an interview with Oyerepa FM.

Ghana’s all-time top scorer has reportedly started training with Legon Cities yesterday in readiness for the upcoming GPL season, which will start on November 13, 2020.
