I want to stay in Italy after retirement—Kwadwo Asamoah

Ghanaian footballer, Kwadwo Asamoah, says he would like to stay in Italy after retiring from football.

The versatile wing-back/midfielder has been playing in the Italian Serie A for almost his entire career, from 2008 to 2020–he parted ways mutually with Inter Milan back in October and without a club now.

The 32-year-old explains the European country is his second home and refused offers to play in the English Premier League, because of how he easily adjusted to the environment.

“Italy is a second home to me and when I think of my career, I can only think of Serie A,” the six-time Serie A winner with Juventus told BBC Africa Sports.

“I’ve been playing here for the past 12-13 years; I spent more time here than in my own country! To be honest, I love it here too!

“I had many opportunities during my career to go to the UK or to other countries, but I adapted so well here, from football to the lifestyle, and that made leaving Italy difficult to accept.

“I feel at home here and after my career I want to stay here too.”

Kwadwo Asamoah spent just months out of Italy when he moved from Liberty Professionals to Swiss club Bellinzona in 2008.

He has since then played for four Italian clubs; Torino, Udinese, Juventus and Inter Milan.
