‘Juju’ adds nothing to your career–John Paintsil to young footballers

Former Black Stars defender, John Paintsil, has urged young footballers to work hard and succeed in their respective careers rather than rely on ‘juju’, which he said contributes nothing to their progress.

There have several reports of the usage of black magic in the local scene, with both clubs and individuals reported to be relying on it for performance enhancement and results.

The former Berekum Arsenal player counseled young talents to work hard and improve their God-given talent and ignore any enticements towards ‘juju’.

“Why would you compromise your God-given talent for juju to aid your performance and results, instead of taking your training serious and abiding by the rules and regulations of the game,” he quizzed on Suncity Radio.

The former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach also suggested that the GFA needs to bring back times of long camping for Ghana to replicate the successes it chalked between 2000 and 2014.

“When players like Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, myself and others were camped at the Winneba Sports College between 1996—1999, we all saw the results that the Black Stars gave Ghanaians”.

And urged the FA to replicate that system now, to place the nation back on top of continental and international soccer.

The Black Stars qualified for three consecutive World Cups in 2006, Ghana’s first participation in the global show piece, 2010 and 2014.
