Stay away from social media – Derek Boateng to young players

Former Black Stars midfielder Derek Boateng, who played for Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals and a plethora of teams across Germany, Spain, England has given some advice to young footballers about using social media.

He was speaking to Joy FM in an interview detailing his journey from the local scene to playing international football and joining the Black Stars.

“My advice for young players is that they should stay away from social media, concentrate, play well, have a good rest, stay away from trouble and pray so that God will open doors for them,” he said.

“The social media is destroying so many young players and they are not concentrating. During my time, right after a game, we go back and think about the game, we play the game inside our head again and make sure that we don’t make mistakes in the next one but right now we see people post things. Their concentration is very little,” he concluded.
