As part of a major initiative by the National Security Council Secretariat, Techiman North and Techiman South constituencies in the Bono East Region have each received 10 newly appointed officers to support peace and security efforts at the local level.
These postings are part of a broader regional deployment of 100 officers across the 10 constituencies in the Bono East region, aimed at deepening intelligence gathering, conflict prevention, and coordination with local authorities.
In a letter signed by the National Security Coordinator, Osman Abdul-Razak, the officers have been appointed as temporary staff, effective 2nd April 2025, with an initial probation period of six months. Upon successful completion, they will serve for a renewable term of two years, receiving monthly allowances from the Secretariat.
“The officers have been appointed for two (2) years, subject to renewal based on good conduct. They would be on probation for six (6) months, after which they would be assessed. They would receive monthly allowances from the National Security Council Secretariat throughout their tenure.” The letter stated
The new officers are tasked with providing timely and reliable intelligence on potential threats to peace and stability in their respective communities. Their role is to act as early warning agents, helping to prevent violence, unrest, or any activities that could undermine national cohesion.
“The officers shall, among others, provide timely information on threats to peace and security in their constituencies to appropriate authorities,” the letter noted.
Local authorities, including the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council, have been urged to provide the necessary support to ensure these officers are adequately briefed and resourced.
The letter detailing the deployment was sighted by Ghanaweb.mobi, and per reports, the 100 appointments across Bono East were made possible through the lobbying and recommendation of the NDC Bono East Regional Chairman, Unas Owusu, popularly known as Chairman Unuasco. His efforts are said to have played a key role in ensuring regional representation and support at the national level.
This move places Techiman North and South at the center of efforts to promote peace in one of Ghana’s most dynamic and strategic regions.
