The Techiman North District Assembly has taken a significant step toward improving local revenue mobilization by issuing official identification cards and specially branded jackets to its tax collectors.
The new gear, which bears the inscription “Techiman North District Assembly, Revenue Collector”, is part of the Assembly’s broader initiative to enhance transparency, professionalism, and public confidence in its tax collection processes.
According to the District Chief Executive, Hon. Kwabena Adam Johnson, this move aims to legitimize the work of revenue collectors and eliminate any doubts about their authority. He disclosed that the Assembly hopes to reduce incidents of impersonation and improve cooperation between taxpayers and officials.

“As District Chief Executive for Techiman North, I am fully aware that adequate revenue is essential to delivering on our development goals. Unfortunately, a review of my handover notes and revenue data revealed that the district’s IGF is critically low. In some weeks, we generate as little as GH₵6,000, an amount insufficient even to fix basic infrastructure like streetlights.
“To understand the challenges, I met with revenue collectors. They reported facing significant obstacles, including a lack of ID cards and uniforms. In response, the Assembly has procured ID cards and embossed vests to legitimize their work and enhance performance.
The Techiman North Tax Officer, Mr. Kyere Kwame Domfe, speaking on behalf of the revenue collectors, thanked the Assembly’s management for addressing their needs. He disclosed that the provision of identification cards will significantly improve revenue collection in the district.

“We are grateful to the District Chief Executive (DCE) and his team for the logistical support provided to revenue collectors. In the past, many people questioned the legitimacy of collectors due to the lack of proper identification. The introduction of official ID cards and branded vests now ensures that collectors are easily recognized and respected as legitimate agents of the Municipal Assembly.
“These tools also provide a level of legal authority and protection, allowing collectors to carry out their duties with greater confidence and credibility. I encourage all revenue collectors to redouble their efforts to improve the Assembly’s internally generated funds. The DCE and management have shown faith in us, and it is our responsibility to repay that trust through improved performance.” He said.
