Thieves snatch car in front of IGP

Four suspected car snatchers were on Wednesday arrested at Gomoa Okyereko in the Central region.

The four were apprehended when they threw out the driver of a yellow and black Kia Picanto taxi cab with registration number GX 3624-18 in front of a police station being commissioned by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh.

The police officers stationed at the event gave the robbers a hot chase and apprehended them.

Briefing the media, police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Oppong said the suspects hired the taxi from Winneba to Okyereko, but pulled him out of the car in the middle of the journey and made away with his mobile phone and money.

The driver, she stated sustained injuries due to the impact of the push.

DSP Oppong added that the suspects are in police custody at Gomoa Okyereko and they will be put before court on Thursday, August 8, 2019.
