Three shot dead, homes razed in Plateau attack

Three persons have been killed and another one injured after gunmen attacked a community in Bassa council of Plateau State.

The attack according to The Nations occurred at a village in the Irigwe chiefdom of Miango district at 1:30 am on Monday, April 5.

The report said more than 25 houses were reportedly set ablaze by the invaders.

This follows a similar attack where 10 persons were killed and 19 injured in the Zerreci community, also in Bassa council.

In a statement by the President of Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Prince Robert Ashi Dodo, the latest attack was the fifth in the area in less than a month.

Dodo said the assailants wrecked the community, looting and burning houses, including a church, and stealing livestock.

Dodo called on security operatives to stop the attacks.

Police spokesman Gabriel Ogaba did not take calls to his phone nor did he respond to text messages on the incident.
