‘Time will tell Putin has made serious mistake with his war’ – German Chancellor

Time will show that Putin has made a “serious mistake” by waging war on Ukraine, says German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“This February 24 is a terrible day for Ukraine and a dark day for Europe,” he added, noting that there was no justification for “Putin’s war.”

Germany and its international allies will agree to further tough sanctions against Russia today, Scholz noted.

“The aim of the sanctions is to make it clear to the Russian leadership: They are paying a bitter price for this aggression.”
