Trump’s Birthright Citizenship Decision Will Save Africa – King Oyanka

King Oyanka, the Minister of Education for the United Nations Montessori Model for West Africa, headquartered in California, USA, and Chairman of the World Human Rights Council for West Africa, has lauded Donald Trump’s decision to end birthright citizenship in the United States.

He believes this move is timely and could indirectly push Africa toward addressing long-standing issues of privilege and inequality.

The practice of “birth tourism,” where African politicians take their wives abroad to give birth, has become a divisive issue. According to King Oyanka, this trend symbolizes privilege and exclusivity, benefitting only the wealthy elite while the majority of citizens remain without access to adequate healthcare.

Many politicians justify the practice by claiming they seek superior medical care for their families, while others argue it is their right to choose where their children are born.

Critics, however, view this behavior as a betrayal of public trust. It underscores the growing disconnect between political leaders and the realities faced by ordinary citizens.

By opting for foreign healthcare, these leaders exhibit a lack of faith in their own countries’ healthcare systems, undermining efforts to improve local infrastructure.

The practice not only reinforces inequality but also exposes the widening gap between the privileged and the rest of society.

Though Trump’s decision to end birthright citizenship may not have a direct impact on Africa, its broader implications are significant. The policy shift could reshape immigration systems and attitudes, potentially affecting African immigrants in the U.S.

While there are concerns it might fuel xenophobia, King Oyanka believes it could also serve as a call for African leaders to focus on developing their countries and reducing reliance on foreign privileges.

For King Oyanka, the conversation is less about U.S. policies and more about accountability in African leadership.

He hopes the decision will inspire African politicians to strengthen local healthcare systems and prioritize their citizens, creating a more self-reliant and equitable future for all.
