The Nation Builders Trainees Association of Ghana has rescheduled its planned protest at the Jubilee House from August 10 to August 18, according to a statement from its communication team.

The Association said the decision was reached to enable its leaders to “notify the Ghana Police Service of our intention as the law demands and seek for protection”.

“All NABCO beneficiaries are to convey at Obra Spot at exactly 7 am. The picketing The picketing will start with a match from Obra-Spot, Ring Road through the Frontal Area of TV3 to the Front Gate of Jubilee House, where our petition will be presented to the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and the Chief of Staff”, the statement added.

Background

The aggrieved NABCo trainees are up in arms against the government’s inability to pay their nine-month allowances, a situation they say is taking a toll on their livelihoods.

The group is also kicking against plans by the government to impose the YouStart initiative on their members as the NABCo programme officially ends on September 1. They have already petitioned the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to intervene on their behalf.
