Update: Assemblies of God members in Volta lake accident; 4 dead

A canoe carrying 10 members of the Assemblies of God Church from Senchi to Old Akrade in the Asuogyaman district of the Eastern region has capsized on the Volta Lake.

Six of the victims have been rescued while the four others were retrieved dead.

They were returning from a Church Program Saturday afternoon when the incident occurred.

An Assembly Member of the area, Issah Laweh, confirmed the development to Starr News.

Boat accident is intermittently recorded on the Volta Lake as locals do not adhere to safety precautions including refusal to wear life jacket, despite continuous awareness by NADMO officials in the District.
