Upper West Police hunt for gunmen who attacked NPP executive, 3 others

Police in the Upper West Region has revealed they are on a hunt for two gunmen who opened fire on the Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bukari Ali on Sunday, November 8, 2020.

While returning to Wa in the company of three others, Bukari Ali was attacked leaving him gunshot wounds while the other three occupants were reported to have escaped unhurt.

A closer look at the vehicle he was driving prior to the attack reveal bullet holes with a smashed windshields due to the fact that he refused to stop when flagged by the armed men.

Police disclosed to MyNewsGh.com that the motive behind the attack which occurred at Bulenga in the Wa East District is not immediately known but they are linking it to a suspected robbery attack.

Bukari Ali who was returning to the Regional Capital was attacked at a sharp curve where the 2 gunmen appeared from their hideout and started shooting indiscriminately at them.

Bukari who is skilled in driving managed to escape but not unscathed as he suffered some gunshot wounds.

He is currently at the Upper West Regional hospital where he is receiving treatment.

There is a rise in insecurity in the country as several armed robbery attacks have been recorded in recent times with Tema in the Greater Accra Region recording as many as about 9 in just a week.

Many security analysts have tried linking the impending elections to the robbery attacks seeking to suggest they are politically sponsored but the Ghana Police Service which disagrees, indicate that it is working to nib the activities of these criminals in the bud.
