To prevent a rampage fire outbreaks, Archimey Kwaako Gyimah, a certified electrical wiring inspector, chief examiner of electrical wiring professionals, and Energy Commission representative in charge of electrical wiring professionals’ training for the Bono East and Ahafo Region has called on Ghanaians, including property owners and electrical wiring professionals to use Ghana Standard Approved Cables and Accessories for all electrical wiring activities.

According to their inspections, a lot of fire outbreaks nationwide are caused by subpart wiring done by unskilled or uncertified electrical wiring specialists, as well as defective cables and accessories.

“To avoid rampage fire outbreaks in Ghana, we must stop using unapproved electric cables and accessories for wiring and make sure that all the wiring activities are done by Energy Commission-certified and licensed professionals”. Archimey proposed.

He also urged all professionals not to present themselves as Energy Commission officials in their day-to-day operations, stating that Certified Electrical Wiring professionals are not the same as the Energy Commission Staff.

Therefore, he appeals that the Energy Commission should recognize all licensed and certified electrical professionals who are working under their supervision.

Archimey Kwaako Gyimah first disclosed this information when speaking to the media during the 20th Electrical Wiring Certification and Awards ceremony on the topic of “Ensuring the safety of life and property through the promotion of standardized cables and accessories” on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
