Use the free SHS program as advantage to improve your future instead of wasting time on drugs – Chief advice for the young people

 

The Nifahene of the Ejura Traditional Area of Ashanti, Nana Osei Kwadwo Ansebie II has advised that the youth should refrain from drugs and seize the free SHS as an opportunity for a better future.

According to him, the young generation should not give their lives to the things that can destroy the future of their lives in time to come but must take schooling and entrepreneurship seriously to ensure that they get a good future.

He said he always feels bad when he sees young people who are future leaders exchanging their good lives with alcoholism, weed, and other drugs that destroy them in the early stages if care is not taken.

Speaking at the launching of a Traditional Kete Music and Dance Group called “NYAME NA AYE NWOMKRO – GROUP” on Saturday, 9th December 2023, at Bepoase in the Afigya Sekyere South District of the Ashanti region, he appeals to the traditional leaders to cherish and promote youth culture to enhance identity development among the younger generation.

Nana Osei Kwadwo Ansebie II said children spend so much time together and learn the same things as the rest of their age group. They develop their own culture but psychological theorists have noted that the role of youth culture in identity development must not be ignored. Youth culture serves as a means of finding identity when one’s path in life is not always clear.

Nana Afia Anosowaa ll, the Asante Nintenghemaa in her take advised the youth to value the rich culture of Ghana and practice it for their own good.

According to her, Western world life is not forbidden but too much of it is a threat to our rich culture.

She said a culture is a tool that has the power to transform entire societies, strengthen local communities, and forge a sense of identity and belonging for people of all ages, and should not be undermined.

“Our culture serves as a means for youth development and civic engagement that plays an essential role in promoting sustainable social and economic development for future generations”. She added.

Maame Grace Akosua Adutwuwaa, the leader of the Traditional Kete Music and Dance Group called “NYAME NA AYE NWOMKRO – GROUP” urges the youth to take it upon themselves to learn their tradition through dance, music, and art.

She said the purpose of the Traditional Kete Music and Dance Group called “NYAME NA AYE NWOMKRO – GROUP” is a means of create a platform for the younger generation to learn, promote, and protect the rich culture for future generations.
